Antmicro, a software-powered embedded technology enterprise focusing on the development of high-end open-source edge computing systems, is now a strategic partner of Allied Vision, an international manufacturer of industrial camera solutions.
FREMONT, CA: Antmicro and Allied Vision have recently entered into a strategic partnership. Allied Vision has been extending camera solutions for medical imaging, scientific imaging, traffic monitoring, and industrial inspection, besides many others.
Antmicro, as an embedded technology enterprise, combines the latest hardware and software technologies for developing advanced products for consumers.
Before this, both the companies started their collaboration with the joint demonstration on a successful technological integration between the Alvium Camera series by Allied Vision and the deep-learning real-time object detection system from Antmicro. The object detection system is powered by the NVIDIA Xavier Jetson Edge Computing platform.
The association between Allied Vision and Antmicro in the embedded software arena was since expanded to include the whole NVIDIA Jetson series. This series would comprise of the Jetson Nano Board along with multiple platforms by the NXP.
The combined image signal processor along with an all-encompassing image processing library are crucial parts of the Alvium technology. Relying on these features, system engineers would be able to carry out pre-processing tasks and image corrections on the camera as opposed to the much prevalent practice of using resources on the embedded board.
As a result, customers having an embedded technology background can easily tap into consistent machine vision abilities which were previously available only on highly expensive, PC-powered solutions.
“The new entrants offer low-end cameras with an average performance. On the other hand, the rest present low-cost modules with limited onboarding processing and mediocre image quality. Whereas, we bring the embedded world the benefits of superior image quality and advanced image correction on-board pre-processing.,” says Andreas Gerk, CEO, Allied Vision.
The open interface ideas of Allied Vision along with the true portability facilitated by compatible cameras interfacing a wide range of sensors in a variety of embedded platforms combines well with scalable and open technology goals of Antmicro.
The Allied Vision Cameras, integrated with hardware and software development services by Antmicro would be available for use by industrial consumers to derive insights into technology utilization in designing highly robust products.
The enterprises would be functioning together on operations and strategic level. The sales and FAE teams would be offering advice to joint consumers on prioritizing the base computing platform, hardware development options, and software.
Allied Vision was featured by Embedded Advisor as one of the Top 20 Embedded Design and Solution Providers 2018.
