AVSimulation and Ansys Are Now Strategic Partners

By Embedded Advisor | Thursday, March 26, 2020

Thierry Marchal, Global Industry Director

ANSYS and AVSimulation have formed a strategic partnership with an aim to accelerate the development of secure and self-governing driving for automakers.

FREMONT, CA: The recently announced partnership between AVSimulation and ANSYS aims to facilitate autonomous vehicle validation and design through virtual testing, thereby ensuring millions of miles of test drive on roads within a single week.

The next-gen autonomous vehicles (AVs) will be designed much faster, secure, and more affordably through this partnership. The association integrates the innovative simulation technology by AVSimulation along with the highly immersive driving simulation solutions by ANSYS.

The partnership is crucial and is a timely one as AVs have become highly prominent in the current automotive industry and are currently undergoing several revolutionary changes.

With the abundance of autonomous vehicles, stringent safety standards have been formed with respect to autonomous driving. Meeting with these requirements fails to be easy. The first step is ensuring that the complex interactions between autonomous vehicles and surrounding environment, weather and traffic are tested within millions of scenarios. This testing calls for billions of miles of comprehensive physical road tests on the car prototype, consuming an immense amount of cost and time.

The ANSYS® VRXPERIENCE®, one among the company’s immersive, revolutionary solutions is the perfect answer to tackle such concerns. This solution is widely sought after to cut down physical prototype testing time.

“Those who embrace true technological revolutions early on emerge as the market leaders,” states Thierry Marchal, Global Industry Director of ANSYS.

Relying on this solution, engineers are able to test, authenticate, and experience AV systems and performance in day-to-day driving scenarios, spanning more than millions of virtual miles on a single day. Further, the solution includes physical sensor simulation, HMI testing, headlamp simulation, embedded software controls integration, physical sensor simulation besides links to systems safety analysis and simulation data management.

AVSimulation’s SCANeR will be embedded within the VRXPERIENCE, as the latter’s driving simulator module. The SCANeR, as a studio product is a scalable and open modular simulation solution which creates the effects of an ultra-realistic virtual world, thereby empowering users to replicate thousands of driving scenarios through numerous variabilities on the high-performance clusters or on the public clouds like Microsoft Azure.  Together, the SCANeR and VRXPERIENCE have raised the standards in designing highly dependable, groundbreaking, and efficient AV systems across the automotive sector.

ANSYS was featured by the Embedded Advisor magazine as one of the Top 20 Medical Devices and Design Solution Providers 2018.
