Hogan Rolls out Lytx Driver Safety Program to its Full Fleet

By Embedded Advisor | Friday, June 21, 2019

The driver safety program connects the dots between risky driving and the steps required to improve it with prescriptive coaching that drives accountability.

FREMONT, CA: Living up to its stature as the global transportation service provider, Hogan Transportation Companies deployed the Lytx Driver Safety Program to its full fleet. Lytx is a provider of video telematics, safety solutions, and analytics for commercial and public sector fleets while Hogan is one of the fastest and largest growing transportation providers in the U.S.

With a history spanning more than hundred-years, Hogan saw massive expansion several years ago that opened the gateways for new safety challenges. Excited about espousing the different safety technologies available in the market, the Hogan team management wanted to learn about the advantages offered by a video telematics solution before deploying it. After a year of evaluation of the various telematics and safety platforms, Hogan is convinced that Lytx offers higher levels of support and visibility.

On deploying Lytx’s Driver Safety Program, Scott Randall, Vice President of Risk Management and Safety at Hogan, said, “A long trial process revealed to us the power of Lytx’s platform and analytics, opening my eyes to how much I could still learn about my fleet. Because Lytx’s algorithms are based on its breadth and depth of driving data, and its risk categorization and tags are uniform across more than 3,000 clients, the platform portrayed an accurate picture of what was happening in our fleet. Lytx could deliver the level of clarity to help us make truly meaningful changes and improvements within our fleet.”

Hogan’s safety team was impressed by Lytx’s ability to capture the most relevant risks and their presentation in an actionable format that revealed not only the types of critical incidents but also the effect concerning those events. Going past video files and raw numbers, Lytx provided insights that inspired a program at Hogan called ‘facilitated self-coaching’ that allowed the drivers to see the events first and self-coach themselves.

George Doherty, a Hogan operations manager, said, “From where I stand, one of the greatest benefits of Lytx’s telematics program is bringing me closer to the drivers that I work with,” said George Doherty, a Hogan operations manager. “By more carefully understanding what is happening in the trucks in our fleet, I can work with drivers—both new hires and seasoned truckers—with an eye toward the specific challenges each of them is facing, alleviating bad behaviors before they become bad habits. I am confident that this tool is helping us build the fleet of tomorrow, with drivers operating at the highest levels of safety.”
